The ABSAME 2007 conference is designed for scientists, medical educators, and health care providers with a focus on the integration of the basic and social sciences for the advancement of healthcare. Translational research, or bench to bedside, is an innovative approach which bridges research in the basic and social sciences with clinical practice. This year’s conference theme was selected to highlight research in the behavioral sciences and medical education with improvements for clinical practice. Content for the conference will be drawn from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, pharmacology, primary care, neurology, nursing, social work and allied health as well as sociology, medical anthropology and the humanities.

Invited plenary speakers include:
Eduardo J. Simoes, M.D., MSci, M.P.H., CDC Prevention Research Center
Spero M. Manson, Ph.D., Professor and Head, American Indian and Alaska Native Program, University of Colorado
Ronnie B. Martin, DO, FACOFP & Loretta Graham Ph.D., Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine

ABSAME Announces Its First Open Poster Session
In order to increase opportunities for networking and collaboration, and to learn more about the work of our colleagues, ABSAME announces its first open poster session* at the 2007 annual meeting. Designed as an addition to posters which have been subjected to a rigorous peer review process, ABSAME is inviting you to consider sharing your work at our open poster session*. Please consider displaying a poster of a work in progress, pilot study, or a creative, innovative project with which you and/or your colleagues have been involved. First time attendees are especially encouraged to share their work. This innovative opportunity is open to all registrants of the ABSAME 2007 meeting but a limited number of “poster scholarships” are also available. Scholarship recipients are limited to attending the poster session only on Friday, October 19 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Please contact Nicole Borges at (nicole.borges@wright.edu) for details. Space is limited, so contact Dr. Borges now to take advantage of this innovative opportunity!

*ABSAME reserves the right to accept to decline posters based on content and space availability.
